Scoutmaster Minute: Physical Fit is a core element of the Scout Oath. On Sunday afternoon 26 Scouts gathered at Chantilly High School for an introduction to the Physical Fitness merit badge. ASM Scott Powers and Ryan Pschigoda provided the necessary guidance and direction to get the Scouts motivated for 1-mile run/trot/jog and several other activities that set the baseline for charting their progress over the next 12 weeks. Scoutmaster Minute: One of the greatest attributes of the Scouting program is that of leadership. That was exemplified this past Saturday when the new leadership team took ownership of their program and made their mark. Scoutmaster Minute: When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. That is exactly what 20 plus Scouts did last week when we postponed the climbing campout and implemented Plan B. The lockin, hosted by Mr. Taylor at their studios, still allowed the Scouts attending to learn some of the fundamentals of climbing safety, preparedness and gear options. Scoutmaster Minute: Today, Labor Day, marks the unofficial end of summer and the start of the new school year (okay it used to). This is their Troop and they need to set the tone with a little nudge here and there to keep it between the guardrails. When school ends the summer appears timeless with endless days to pass. Now each day becomes a scramble to maximize the long days of sunshine or one more splash in the pool. Scoutmaster Minute: We are still need of someone that can pull the Troop Trailer to and from the campout next weekend. This does not require you campout, but certainly welcome. In ability to take the trailer will significantly alter plans, and require adults to transport Patrol supplies like chuck boxes, water jugs, popups and related items on Friday evening and Sunday morning.
