Scoutmaster Minute

We had an huge fun last evening at Vertical Rock climbing center…clearly some of these Scouts are part spider monkey. They were exposed to the basic fundamentals of the Climbing MB and I received several requests for blue cards. A session or two here may be on a few wish lists. This certainly put a few Scouts outside their comfort zone, especially on the 50 foot wall, but they prevailed and great time into the wee hours of the morning, multiple requests to come back again. Success and happiness require engagement.

Troop Meeting Outlook

1. This Week Dec 10: Scout Skills Relay – Pandas
Uniform Class A 

We will be hosting several Arrow of Light Scouts that are considering Troop 893 as the next step in their Scouting Journey.  
The Pandas have developed a series of activities that combine scouting skills and competition.

2. Eagle Project/Service Hours – Saturday, Dec 14 @ 9AM – Activity Field
Uniform Class B

Ben Fuentes is seeking support from fellow Scouts to help build dog bed platforms for the Fairfax Humane Society (see flyer attached). 
Please bring power drills along with drill bits and gloves if you have them. Donuts and drinks will be provided.

 

3. Next Week Dec 17: First Aid in Action – Land Sharks
Uniform Class A 

This meeting will several purposes, the first being supporting the requirements of several younger Scouts while doubling as refresher for older Scouts in anticipation of Klondike Derby.

Patrols will finalize plans for upcoming Klondike Sled prep and station the Troop would like to run.

4. Year End and 2020

Meetings will resume after the winter break on January 7.
