Scoutmaster Minute: That second or third round of Thanksgiving leftovers and desserts …so tasty. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. We certainly helped to ensure others could give thanks as well with contributions made during the Scouting for Food activities a few weeks ago. The Sully District collected over 70,000 pounds…that is a massive contribution to the community and you should all be very proud of your role in making that happen. Finally we are only 33 days away from 2022…time flys, use it wisely.
Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four hour days.– Zig Ziglar

Recharter – Please review information shared by Committee Chair Paul Taylor about rechartering Scouts and Adults for 2022.
MEETINGS
Remember that the Patrol assigned to run a meeting also has clean up duty….meaning your Patrol should be the last to leave with approval of SPL and Scoutmaster.
1. This Week Nov 30: Tents and Compasses (Pandas) @ Activity Field
Uniform Class B (Class A when seeking advancement)
The Pandas will be facilitating a troop tent inventory in combination with review of proper tent pitching. In addition, Scout will be using a compass to get re-oriented to proper navigation as required in multiple ranks and merit badges. This will be good skills building for those that have not yet completed 1st Class and in preparation for an Orienteering outing being planned for December 5. These are skills that will be exercised at the Klondike Derby.
Remember your 10 Essentials...compass should be in there…if you don’t have one it’s a great gift for the holidays/birthday. Base-plate compasses like the Silva starter 1-2-3 are the best all-around, least expensive and durable compasses.
2. Orienteering Outing Dec 5 @Hemlock Overlook Regional Pack
Uniform Class BWe will have a troop orienteering hike on Sunday, 5 December from 9 AM – noon at Hemlock Overlook Regional Park.
This outing will help complete several key requirements for younger Scouts that have not yet completed 1st Class (Tenderfoot 5a, 5b, 5c; Second Class 3a; First Class 4a, 4b)Please follow this link to sign up: Orienteering Hike
3. Next Week Dec 7: Possible Night Hight (Landsharks)
Uniform Class B (Class A when seeking advancement)
The Landsharks are working out plans for a possible night hike…details to follow.
4. Next Next Week Dec 14: PLC Mtg (All Scouts in Leadership Positions)
Uniform Class A
Patrol Leaders and others in position of responsibility should arrive with one or more meeting plan/activity using the attached template. Since we will likely have New Scouts joining us over the next several weeks, a few of the meetings should be oriented with their participation in mind. The link below can help with meeting ideas that can make for a combination of scout skills and fun. http://www.programresources.org/ activities/
