Scoutmaster Moment
Developing leadership skills are one of the aims of the Scouting program.  Today the new leadership team came together for Introductory Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST).  This was new material for nearly half the team there, and it was clear how training has been embraced by our experienced scouts as they stepped up to lead various sections. Lots of good discussion, some fun games and everyone indicated they learned something new.
Everything is hard before it is easy.

The goal of many leaders is to get people to think more highly of the leader. The goal of a great leader is to help people to think more highly of themselves.

Jamboree-on-the-Air (JOTA), Saturday October 16th

Troop 893 will be operating a JOTA amateur radio station at the CUMC Activity Field on Saturday October 16th from 10am to 3pm. Scouts will learn a little about how radios work and get the opportunity to talk to other scouts and radio operators over the radio in other states and maybe even another country. JOTA is also a great introduction to the Radio, Electronics, and Digital Technology merit badges! Please see the attached flyer for more information.
