Who: All 893 Scouts and Venturers
What: 893 KlonBike Derby – A Half-day bike event
Where: Start/Finish at Deer Park Elementary School
When: Saturday October 2nd 2021 8:00AM – Noon
How: After completing the required safety inspection/briefing, each patrol/crew will be released at 10-minute intervals to complete the 10-mile course. Along the way, they will compete in a series of challenges:
- Inflation Station – Race as a patrol to fully inflate a flat bicycle tire.
- Readiness Repose – Respond to a bicycle-related first aid incident.
- Destination Delivery – A relay race to deliver a “newspaper” into a “mailbox” while riding.
- Mystery Depot – A Mystery!
Required Gear:
- Properly fitted Bicycle Helmet
- Water Bottle (water refill will be available at stations)
- First Aid Kit
- Rain Gear
- Trail Snacks
- Sun Protection
- Map (see attached) and Compass
- Facemask (for at stations, also helps with bugs in the face while riding)
