Scoutmaster Minute: I am looking forward to seeing everyone this week, expecially since the weather is looking favorable. It will still be dark, so make sure you have your headlamps/flashlights. This first meeting will be busy with various leadership elections, so we need everyone to fall in line quickly and follow COVID protocols as we have the past several month…nothing new there.
The leader has to be practical and a realist,
yet must talk the language of the visionary and the idealist.

MEETINGS
- This Week Tuesday 9 MAR 2021: Troop Elections @ Activity Field
Uniform – Class A
Lots happening this Tuesday…this will be the order of business.
- Order of the Arrow– Will have several Scouts that will be on the ballot for consideration as new members of OA. Scouts attending the meeting will be the only ones that will have the privilege of voting for their peers.
- Nova Corp– Current Nova Corp will transition into permanent patrols. ###All Nova Corp scouts should be prepared to turn in the red neckerchiefs.
- Troop Leadership– Elections for SPL and Patrol Leader. Any Scout considering the position of Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) must contact me before 5pm Monday. No exceptions. After SPL selection, each Patrol will then select a new Patrol Leader.
- Positions of Responsibility– All other positions require a Scout to add their name to the signup sheet at the meeting for consideration by the new SPL and Scoutmaster. Positions of Responsibility are especially critical for Scouts seeking to advance to Star, Life and Eagle, but many are open to all Scouts. There are many options, so please review the attached document if you’re not familiar with a position or would like to know more. You can also talk to the Scout current in the position. Yes talk, primitive I know, but highly effective when exercised properly.
In all cases you must be present to be considered. If for some reason you are unable to attend please let me know ASAP.
ALL THOSE SELECTED FOR A POSITION WILL BE EXPECTED TO ATTEND LEADERSHIP TRAINING ON SUNDAY, MARCH 21 (backup date is April 11)
- Eagle Project – Saturday 13 MAR 2021 @ Camp Snyder Woodshop
Brian Staton’s Eagle Scout Project involves constructing bat houses that will be installed at the Conway Robinson State Park.
This project is an excellent example of conservation and public health since bats help reduce the mosquito population. See attached flyer for additional details and please contact Brian if you are able to attend.
Date : March 13th
Time : 6PM – 9 PM*
Location: Camp Snyder Woodshop, 6100 Antioch Road, Haymarket, VA 20169
