Scoutmaster Minute
I have two thoughts for this week, as today is Father’s Day.  Many thanks to all the Dads in the Troop and those who have supported those of us in the troop!  Without your guidance, support, staying up with homework, helping with campout prep, being at games, recitals, and the other innumerable ways Dads help kids of all ages our efforts would be so much harder.  Be sure to give your Dad an extra hug, and remember to thank him on other days throughout the year too.

This week will mark the official, astronomical, start of Summer on the 21st.  But I think we all know that Summer “really” started this past Thursday when FCPS school year ended.  I’m sure for many in the Troop this means summer plans at the pool, perhaps travel with family to new places or familiar ones, times at the beach with the surf and sun, and carefree days with friends.  I am greatly looking forward to spending time with those going to camp this coming week.  The troop will continue to meet over the summer, not all will be able to attend each meeting.  Travel safely and let us know of your adventures!

And so with the sunshine and great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.

Upcoming Service Opportunities
Providing service is a key part of Scouting, to do our daily good turn. Helping others often in turn helps ourselves with new experiences and opportunities for growth. This is built into requirements for most ranks. I’m adding a new section to the weekly notes to list any upcoming service opportunities that may help the Community, and progress in your  trail to Eagle.

  • CUMC Grace Ministries is a monthlyprogram through our charter organization held on the 2nd Saturday of each month, with prep the Friday night before hand, help is needed at both the Friday set up and on Saturday morning tobringgoods to cars
