Scoutmaster Minute
This weekend was the 46th Annual 893 Family Camping Canoe Trip, and we had near perfect weather. Some members of the troop had been before as siblings, this marked the first time that the 893 Girls Troop took part as members of a troop. The girls had a great showing, and clearly got into the spirit of defending against “river pirates”.
This weekend marks the start of the summer season activities, pools open and we know that school’s last day is that much closer. But the true significance of this weekend is not open pools and picnics. Today we mark Memorial Day, the day on which we remember those who have served our country and given it “the last full measure of devotion” in putting their very lives in service of what this country is and can be. Please remember them, and their families, as you enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend.
It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. All scouts attending Summer Camp at Goshen with the Troop this summer must attend
Note this matches the time for the Boys Troop meeting, not our normal meeting time
- All campers (adult and youth) turn in BSA Medical Forms parts A, B & C (C is the part that must be signed by a doctor), and front/back copy of insurance card
- Indicate bus seat mate and tent mate for the week (Goshen tents are 2-person platform tents with cots)

Shed Cleanout (quartermasters) – 6/1
Uniform: Class B (troop t-shirt)
Location: CUMC Activity field (troop shed)
Troop 893 quartermasters will be cleaning out and reorganizing the shed
Upcoming Service Opportunities
Providing service is a key part of Scouting, to do our daily good turn. Helping others often in turn helps ourselves with new experiences and opportunities for growth. This is built into requirements for most ranks. I’m adding a new section to the weekly notes to list any upcoming service opportunities that may help the Community, and progress in your trail to Eagle.

- CUMC Grace Ministries is a monthly program through our charter organization held on the 2nd Saturday of each month, with prep the Friday night before hand, help is needed at both the Friday set up and on Saturday morning to bring goods to cars
