Scoutmaster Minute: One of the greatest attributes of the Scouting program is that of leadership. That was exemplified this past Saturday when the new leadership team took ownership of their program and made their mark. During our Junior Leadership Training program we had a several Scouts, all in the process of reaching Eagle take the reigns speak directly from their own experiences on how to set a goal and make a plan to get there. Hiroki Cook, made a lasting impression on Scouts, young and old, with a very well structured and impressive discussion of leadership and how it related not only to Scouting, but life in general. In addition, Thomas Buckhout, Matthew Sezen, Benjamin Powers and Layth Rishmawi facilitated discussions on effective communications and planning, the latter leading to a solid schedule of activities for the fall term. Nick Thurston helped the Old Goats with some axe yard etiquette as several of our Asst Scoutmasters were guided through our first ever IOLS prepared by CJ Staton and supported by a great team of adult leaders. As a Troop, I feel we are truly gifted from the bottom up, all of which makes Troop 893 – Simply the Best.
