Scoutmaster Minute: Just going on record that we have a hearty set of Scouts in Troop 893. Several have hit the trifecta – three consecutive campouts with below freezing temps (Mission Impossible, Klondike and Elizabeth Furnace). This weekend the best part was watching them work together to make some great/interesting meals, encourage each other on 10-mile hike to Buzzard Rock while enjoying a small snow shower during lunch after gaining 1,261 ft in elevation, and returning to a very toasty campfire. This is the epitome of putting the OUTING in SCOUTING.

Missing Item: Orange glove…please advise if located.

1.  Next Meeting – 20 March: Team Building (Eagles)
Uniform – Class A

The Eagle patrol has devised a series of activities that each patrol will participate in to team communication and collaborative skills. All activities require working together as a patrol. Patrol members that  missed last couple meetings will also have opportunity to receive their new patrol patch.

2.  NCAC Orienteering Meet: March 24, Prince William Forrest
Uniform – Class A/B

We would like to send representatives to this event in a few weeks, currently we have 3-4 Scouts registered, so would be great to have a few more to make this possible. This will be a day trip only activity, no camping – final details after Tuesday. This event is great opportunity to learn and improve orienteering skills which is key element of 1st Class, multiple merit badges, high adventure (+++Philmont Crew+++) and is a core Scouting skill.

The cost will be $10 per Scout. We will need Adult support for transportation, but note that no Adults are allowed on the orienteering course. Please register your interest with the Troop ASAP so we can plan accordingly, we will then make reservation with NCAC.
